Hatching costs an embryo energy, and the empty shells are indigestible. Shell Free Artemia has the shell entirely removed and is dried so it no longer hatches, which means it delivers 30% to 50% more energy than live nauplii and there is nothing to hatch: hydrate it for a few minutes and feed.
